man, what an appetite...she says, having partaken of a cup of rockin' homemade bean soup and a half of pot roast sandwich on sourdough w/horseradish for her repast...
lunch is divine, isn't it? 3 packets of scorcho juice, that's SOME throat you got there! sword swallowers eat your heart out. and more packets on the dash of the deville?... hmmmm, is it important to you to be perceived as a person of means? ah cheri, don't get too attached to your social identity. i perceive you as a hidalgo, an archtypical character in spanish novels. although he was an impoverished nobleman, he never appeared in public without a gold toothpick between his teeth, whether or not he had eaten. i always wondered about cadillac owners, what makes the so obsessed with an image of wealth and prosperity? i suppose such a preoccupation could actually be totally fine, because if you want something to be true about yourself, you certainly have to project it, even if it's only half true. by the way, you eeeeees da bomb, ricky! is there a place for me at club babalou?
Everything you say is true, Suze...hidalgo...gold tooth pick...projection. I'm superficial, transparent, and most importantly, self centered. I'm glad it doesn't take new readers long to figure that out.
whoaa, man, you ARE hard on yourself. the self-deprecating labels, even if they are true, won't serve you, man! this is the first blog i ever responded to. (read: ricky is an interesting bloke, and worth the time!)
i think bloggers need to feel heard.... listened to, ya know? we all do. i don't think you're THAT transparent, and you might go a whole lot deeper than even you think. you know how when you had, (and couldn't stand) that pedantic, know-it-all teacher who actually got off on messing with students' heads and making them feel dumb? do you get a kick of games of one-upmanship, proving your moral or intellectual superiority by speaking above the heads of your peers so only a select few get the joke? we've all overcompensated in outrageous ways from time to time. this lunchtime blog is your way of communicating to the world, no? we, (a world collective WE) are not stuck here, wherever we are. i think, life by nature is anthropology, archeology, and science fiction all rolled into one, because it rules the limitless wanderings and possibilities of our human minds. what heights can YOU reach today? life...yours, mine, whoever, simply can't exist without belief. belief is trust. it's what makes runners run and racer's race. it's the spirit of the game, for heaven's sake. race on, ricky, and please pass the a-1 sauce. p.s. lunch today:last night's teryaki (sp?) chicken, wild rice and garlic green beans nestled in a corelle bowl.
Thank you for the advice and insight, Suze, but let's try and stay focused on lunch.
